Should Bridal Makeup be Heavy? Everything you should know FROM AN INDIAN BRIDAL MAKEUP ARTIST.

Makeup artists get asked all the time if their bridal makeup should be heavy. The answer is no! Your bridal makeup should look like your natural skin. The point of bridal makeup should not be to make you look like a brand new person; it should serve as an enhancement for your already beautiful face! You should look like the best version of yourself on your wedding day, and with the help of a makeup artist, they are going to do just that. For the brides that do not wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis or do not know exactly what you want, make sure you have conversations with your makeup artist before your wedding day. Explain to them that you want more of a natural/light glam. It is also important to do a trial before your wedding day so you can see the kind of work the makeup artist does.

How do I make sure the makeup does not appear heavy?

For the most part, makeup is very buildable. You should always start with a thin layer of foundation and then either add more or stop after a thin layer. Make sure you are satisfied with the first layer before continuing to add. You can always add more, but you can’t go back. Less is always more! With that being said, if you have a blemish or something that you would like to cover up, your makeup artist should absolutely do that. It is important that you are confident on your big day.

Tip 3: “Stippling”: What it is and why we do it.

To make the foundation appear like your skin, we use a tactic called “stippling.” Stippling is when the makeup artist take a cream or liquid foundation and you press it into the skin with small dots. To ensure that you are only using a small amount of foundation, it is important that to wipe your sponge or brush in between dabs. Stippling is to serve as a way to give you an airbrushed look. It presses the foundation into the skin instead of just sitting it on top.

Tip 4: Lock your look in with a setting spray.
