  1. Primer: Using primer will help your makeup last longer and will help your makeup stay in its place. Opt in for a mattifying primer instead of dewy. A mattifying primer will be better to help with oily and acne prone skin.

  2. Use Lightweight Formulas: When finding a foundation, make sure it is light on your skin. Make sure it goes well on your skin and won’t break you out even more. For example, finding a foundation that may say “non-acnegenic” and/or oily free. This will prevent your skin from being more oily than it should be.

  3. Conceal Strategically: When using concealer, it is recommended to spot concealer in certain areas where you may have more blemishes and pimples so that you aren’t going super heavy on your skin. You want to make sure you aren’t putting too much on the skin because this will also cause breakouts and will make your skin look cakey. And that is not what we want.

  4. Build Coverage Gradually: When applying your foundation, it is essential to build your foundation little by little to make sure that it is an even layer being built on the skin. You could use a damp sponge to apply the foundation in layers to avoid heavy layers on the skin. You’re trying to make your makeup even and have a natural finish, not to make it look like there is a lot on the skin.

  5. Set with powder: In order to reduce shine or oily spots in your makeup, setting powder could be a great use in your makeup routine. Also, don’t go heavy on the powder either because it could cause your makeup to become cakey and look more dry.

  6. Cream Blushes: Cream blushes will be in your favor if you have acne prone skin because it will add a natural touch to your makeup without looking like it has overpowered everything else.

  7. Set with setting powder: Once you have created your flawless look, you want to make sure it stays on your face. Choose a setting spray for oily skin to mattify and to control the oil on your face.

  8. Be patient! When doing your makeup, you won’t get it on the first try. Find products that will make you feel good but also be better for your skin. You have to let your skin breathe in order for it to not break out even more than how it already is.

  9. Touch up throughout the day: It is normal for you to get oily throughout the day and don’t get discouraged! It’s normal and totally fixable! Keep a travel sized kit where you can have blotting sheets to control the oil that is on your face, a pressed powder and a concealer to cover any blemishes that may appear again.
